People sitting a lot will definitely have an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, and early death. Moreover, sitting for a very long time won’t burn many calories. In fact, lots of studies have linked it to obesity and weight gain. Today, this is the major problem of office workers since they often sit throughout the day. Good thing there are standing desks these days.
Desk top computer use is usually more demanding beginning in the late forties or early fifties. Viewing through the distance portion of your eyeglasses to see just beyond the reading range to the computer screen puts a strain on your eyes by overworking the eye’s accommodative/focusing ability. The amount of lens power necessary to relieve the eyes from the stress is about half the amount of power necessary for you to read with.
Repetitious work done at a desk can be very fatiguing, both physically and mentally. It will also put a great deal of strain on your eyes. It is imperative to take breaks to allow your body and mind to rest and recover at least one time every hour. Try standing up from your desk to stretch and walk around for approximately 3 to 5 minutes at a time. You will be amazed at how refreshed you will feel when you sit back down at your desk to begin work again.
